But today I\u2019m going to focus on explaining one big idea that I think overrides most others. It\u2019s something that goes against the natural inclinations of most people when they start out on social media. But once you realize what needs to be done, it can be a real game changer. My advice comes from a man named Dale Carnegie who published a book in 1936 called <em>How to win friends and influence people<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We all know that social media can help us grow our business. But, If you&#8217;re like me, you&#8217;ve got limited time, limited attention and limited resources. Just \u201cposting\u201d links to content is oftentimes all people can find the time to do, and most of the time we can\u2019t even find the time to even do that! Many times if we post content and links, the links aren\u2019t even to content that we\u2019ve created because, well, it\u2019s easy. It\u2019s so easy to start by doing things that don\u2019t take a lot of time to just be \u201cactive\u201d. A common line of thinking is that it\u2019s all about posting, as much as possible, so you\u2019re not lost in the void right? You ultimately have to post to be seen. And when you\u2019re seen, people will want to engage, follow and hire your business when the time comes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I think success on social media isn\u2019t about posting all the time. In fact, it\u2019s actually about posting less, and this goes against what most people start out doing on social media &#8212; me included. Success can be found by being active. But it\u2019s about being active in the right ways if your goal is to grow.
